Nail Your College Essay Reviews

Valerie Broughton — June 14, 2009

For the college match process to work, those of us who guide students must help them learn about colleges, but most importantly, learn about themselves. Jan guides students to use their stories and their authentic voices in order "to like the people they are". Plus, she models that advice. Nail Your College Essay is filled with her stories, written in her experienced and powerful voice. This book is invaluable for students, college counselors, and English teachers.

Jan Rooker has demonstrated how a student explores discovering their own inner voice, capturing who they are in their essays. A student should think about their application as the introduction of themselves to a college and reveal those characteristics which show the very real and different sides to them. Jan Rooker, in straightforward language accomplishes her mission with wonderful examples and a method that works! A must read for students before writing their essays and for counselors, teachers, or anyone mentoring the process!

You have written the book in such as easy to understand and digestible way for students. Compared to every other ?how to? essay book I?ve read, it is so student friendly. I agree with your approach! Love it!
