The following are excerpted from the letters, emails and thank you notes we have received from clients and their parents.
I know our son has been keeping you informed but his mother and I want to thank you for the all the work you did in helping him achieve a very successful outcome. With your help we identified the best schools and programs and arrived at a very happy conclusion. We are all thrilled that he will be attending USC. Not only that, he had several excellent options to choose from including his original favorite, NYU. We are actually convinced that USC's program is number one for what he wants to study. It's funny how until the last few months California was largely off his radar screen and now he's covered in Cardinal and Gold. It just proves how important it is to cover a lot of bases in advance. Six months is a long time in the life of a 17-year-old! We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Not that you need it, but please feel free to use this as a reference at any time. –-Heather and Brian McV, Briarcliff Manor, NY
Working with Jan as a consultant made my college process as painless as it could have possibly been. When I was a junior in high school, she had great, innovative ideas for projects I could start that both tailored to my interests and bolstered my resume. She was an excellent resource for questions on every topic from summer internships to course selection, and when I started applying to colleges senior year and my stress-based craze led me to call her at 8pm on a Friday night, she was happy to answer my call and help me through whatever that night’s issue was. Jan was exactly the consultant I needed because she was kind but not soft with me; she pushed me to be the best I could be, to turn out my best work, to keep on top of all of the components of applying to college, to meet with her as often as I could so as to not fall behind, and to be reasonable when making decisions. Despite my own stubbornness, Jan did a great job of making sure I was balanced in my thinking by making suggestions about which schools I should apply to, about which schools were possibilities and which were too hard, and about making sure I had safeties to fall back on. Jan was also extremely knowledgeable in terms of information about a school’s culture and values, as well as what they look for in a student. By the time all of my applications were submitted, which was far before my deadline dates and within a very comfortable timeline, I felt comfortable knowing that Jan helped assure that the materials I had turned in were my best work and reflected my own voice and experiences, and knowing that no matter what happened I would wind up somewhere great. I could not be happier with my experience with the college process, and I know that Jan is the reason it was not only completely manageable, but also enjoyable. Elizabeth K, New Canaan, CT
Jan, thank you so much for helping me through the college process. It was difficult and stressful at times, but you made it a lot easier. I learned how to write more fluid, concise essays and I even learned more about myself. You taught me how to buckle down and get things done and I appreciate your motivation and hard work. You pushed me to do the SCAD summer program and take more rigorous courses and I set my sights high. I am thankful for all your efforts. I don't think I could've done it on my own and I am thankful for your help to guide the way. I'm excited for SMU and I'll definitely let you know how it goes. –Ashley M, Darien, CT
What can we say but a million thanks! Your hard work, dedication, and belief in our daughter were critical elements in her acceptance to Princeton and Brown and Northwestern and… You know as well as we do that it is a dream come true for her and it wouldn't have been possible without your guidance. You definitely brought out her strengths and help her improve in needed areas. Again, thank you so much! –-Amy R, New Canaan, CT
Hi Jan, My husband and I have been celebrating our daughters recent job offer and in looking back, as with her sister, you play a big part in getting her these opportunities. Our daughter was a good student with a great writing ability. You encouraged her to leverage this by working for the local paper and applying for Northeastern's cherub journalism camp. She managed to turn that into an early decision acceptance at Northwestern. She is entering her senior year this year as an Econ major. Her dream was investment banking and she just finished an internship at J.P. Morgan in New York City which resulted in a full-time offer. Our daughter has worked very hard and done a remarkable job of leveraging every opportunity presented to her, but without your help ,initially, her path could have been very different. We can't thank you enough and if you ever have someone who would like to talk to a previous client, please consider our family. Thanks Jan! –-Kathy P, mom of college junior, New Canaan, CT
